Fixed Pitch Propellers
Hardwood propellers reinforced with composite laminations, from 50 cm (20") to 250 cm (98½") in diameter, for applications from 40 to 1000 HP.
Our fixed pitch propellers are made from a combination of highly selected woods, including maple, ash, birch and mahogany. The wood comes from dedicated, monitored plantations that safeguard nature and ensure ethical sourcing. The wood layers are glued together into a block using certified, high-performance aircraft glue. Continuous testing during production ensures the highest and consistent quality.
The blades are laminated with composite material in key areas for better surface protection and long-term stability. The leading edge is protected with a special two-component resin, injected to create a guard that resists impact from small stones, rain and grass — and is easily replaced if damaged. Some propellers also feature a metal leading edge guard in stainless steel, nickel or brass.
Several layers of polyurethane or acrylic lacquer are then applied. The tips are painted a different colour for safety and visibility. Tractor propellers have a matt black back. Various colour options are available. Our standard yellow-and-red tips have become GT’s signature over the years, making our propellers easy to recognise even while spinning — most customers choose this configuration.
Diameters range from 50 cm (20“) to 250 cm (98½“), for applications from 40 to 1000 HP. More than 20,000 GT propellers are in service worldwide, on experimental, certified, motor glider and vintage aircraft. All our fixed pitch propellers — built from hardwood and reinforced with composite laminations — comply with EASA standards.
